When most people think of merging phones and watches these days, the first thing that comes to mind is a wristwatch that is also a phone. I mean, there’s nothing unique about a phone that is also a watch. Those are a dime (a penny, really) a dozen. So leave it to the minds of a high-fashion French design company to take that bland concept and make it something exquisite.

The Remontage Papillon is a tourbillon phone without a lot of high-tech phone parts. You’ll notice, though, that the front of this flip phone contains a whole lot of mechanical pieces. That’s because built inside are nearly 550 moving parts that bring an old-school watch right into the interior of the phone.

The movement of the parts is designed to mimic a butterfly flapping its wings. It’s something so simple, yet no simpleton will be able to afford this phone. Its price tag will be $275,000. .

This timepiece is slated to be on display at the Baselworld trade show in Switzerland later this month. Keep checking back to Wrist Dreams for the latest previews and news from the show.

Christian Louboutin Loubiday Nappa Clutch

It looks like Christian Louboutin might finally be getting the hang of this whole handbag thing, finally. Christian, if you’re out there: it’s perfectly fine to do your best bag work right now in clutches. Once you start producing reliably in that arena, we can move on to bigger bags and concepts.

I believe in you, really I do, despite the fact that I’ve criticized many of your bags in the past (love your shoes though, natch). The Christian Louboutin Loubiday Nappa Clutch, for example? You’re showing tons of potential.

The whole look is just so pleasantly art deco. The soft, creamy nappa leather contrasts perfectly with the shiny black patent, and the inky black dots on either side of the center stripe provide a unique, restrained addition of visual interest. Plus, I really support the whole tiny-red-soled-shoes-as-a-clasp thing you’ve been doing for the past couple of season, Christian. It’s totally adorable.

If you are a fan of Dior handbags, we may be continuously letting you down. Personally, I do not think Dior does a horrid job with their handbag line, but I also am not moved often enough about their fashion handbags and purses to write about them. On the flip side, I am not moved so horridly that I must discuss what a major flop their bags are either. That means my feeling about Dior bags looms somewhere in the middle ground.

Dior Demi Lune Small Flap Bag

If I keep my personal feeling about smaller shoulder bags out of this review, I find myself liking the Dior Demi Lune Small Flap Bag. The leather is no doubt super supple and the twisted shoulder strap gives a dramatic touch. The foldover with pleated detail and silver hardware also adds nice accents.

When it comes to dimensions I feel like this purse should be a clutch. There is a 9″ drop, which is ample shoulder space, but the overall dimensions are 11×6.2×2.75 inches.

Good news, everyone – it’s cool to be an uptight, rich plutocrat again! Adjust accordingly.

Really, where would those ideals be more appropriately on display than at the Christian Dior Haute Couture show this week in Paris? John Galliano styled his Cruella-meets-English-nobility show with riding crops and streaks of Bride of Frankenstein grey hair, and although I didn’t adore this collection as much as I did the lingerie-as-outerwear show from six months ago, I couldn’t help but smile. Haute Couture Week is like getting a big, beaded, sparkly fashion hug.
This bags collection is kind of brilliant in that the people that actually will have enough money to buy it have probably been rich for so many generations that they may not see it as at all interesting or subversive – it’s merely retro! It’s like what grandmother wore when she rode out to meet grandfather after his fox hunts! And people apparently still do that sort of stuff, according to a fantastically wealthy girl that lived on my hall during my freshman year of college. Really, it’s weird to ask an 18-year-old chick what she’s doing for the weekend and hear her say, without a trace if irony, that she’s going to her family’s estate for the traditional fall hunt.

Anyway, that’s not what we’re talking about here. We’re talking about couture! Sadly, I mostly preferred the stiff-upper-lip styling and and equestrian touches to the actual clothes, although there were a few pieces that were absolute standouts. The lightly colored lace dresses, the red and grey color schemes that reminded me of the cinematography in Inglourious Basterds, and the tuxedo redux ruffled ballgown were all enough to transport me entirely to the land of Galliano’s couture vision.

It was back in 1947 that Christian Dior revolutionized the fashion industry with his post-wartime “New Look” collection that put Paris back on the map as the fashion capital of the world. Now over six decades later, the legendary designer’s label is paying tribute to that impact by creating something both modern yet inspired by that past era.

The “New Lock” handbag collection is completely classic, as if we’d expect anything else from Dior handbags, yet available in some very contemporary styles like colorful snakeskin with studded detail. If you prefer simplicity, though, don’t worry. The “New Lock” also comes in simple solid colors with pretty, understated details like ruffled trim and topstitching.

To commemorate the launch of this new silhouette and possible It fashion bag of the near future, the luxury label has enlisted the help of the lovely French actress Nora Arnezeder. In addition to the photos from the ad campaign that feature Arnezeder in various situations with the bag, the actress also starts in a series of short films created by Peter Lindbergh and Darius Khondji to showcase the new fashion collection.

Marion Cotillard Stars in Lady Dior Mini Film | Short Movie Includes Mystery, Intrigue, and Handbags

Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard impressed in the Eiffel Tower Lady Dior ad campaign this past winter, and now she’s back at it again with something a little different.

This time, she’s utilizing her highly respected acting skills for Dior’s new mini movie, entitled The Lady Noire Affair. The six-minute film makes it debut on LadyDior.com next Wednesday, May 20.

From the online preview, it looks like we can expect plenty of mysterious people, kidnappings, and other scenes similar to a 1940s spy thriller like Ingrid Bergman’s Notorious. I can’t help but see the similarities between the two. Dior’s version, of course, will also feature plenty of fabulous handbags for us to envy.

“We wanted to capture the glamour, the intrigue, the heroine and the mysterious allure that radiates around her,” said John Galliano, Dior’s creative director. “Marion has brought the Dior woman to life. She is incredible.”

Love it or hate it: the Gypsy Ruffles handbag by Christian Dior makes a big impression.

The soft calfskin ruffles that encircle the replica  bag are sure to polarize fashion fans. Girly girls and hippie chicks will probably love the perforated frill, while no-nonsense bagistas will scorn its unabashed femininity. This red shade certainly makes the most of that divisive design, but other shades including mustard and basic black tone it down.

I don’t mind the frill, but the Dior letter charms which dangle from the handle overcomplicate the design. Making them removable, as so many other brands do, would have satisfied label lovers and minimalist mamas alike.

Open up the top zip to reveal a space which strikes the right balance. There’s room for the essentials and a few luxuries besides, but it’s not so big that you’ll feel weighed down. That’s a good thing too, because the double wrapped strap doesn’t look like the most comfortable carry handle!

This is a hobo that embraces its bohemian roots and its girly side in equal measures. It won’t be to everyone’s taste, but it’s bound to excite many feminine fashionistas.

Christian Dior Le Trente Shopping Bag | Medium Soft Feminine Leather Handbag

There’s something so frothy and fun about  shopping bag from Christian Dior. But don’t accuse this purse of being frivolous!

Those girly looks come from the buttery soft leather bag, which gathers in pleats around the drawstring and bubbles over with the foldover cuff. The effect gives this purse the kind of flirty charm we don’t often see in shoppers.

But don’t think that Christian Dior has forgotten about functionality. The generous size makes the Le Trente perfect for a big day hitting the Christmas sales. I could probably use more than the single zippered pocket, but at least there’s the space for stashing our smaller purchases. The leather strip makes those double chain handles look much more inviting, although a few inches would probably have helped make them more manageable. And the protective metal feet might even save that lovely white leather bag from aging too quickly.

Like most Christian Dior purses though, the price is likely to be the real sticking point. At $1950, you might have to choose this or the family Christmas presents!

Marion Cotillard Lady Dior Ad for Christian Dior Revealed

marioncotillardladydior
The latest Christian Dior advertisement for its iconic Lady Dior handbags has been unveiled! This stunning ad features Academy Award winning French actress Marion Cotillard perched at the edge of the Eiffel Tower.

It all seems pretty dangerous, especially in those heels, but Marion looks cool as a cucumber clutching her black Lady Dior purse and wearing a sexy John Galliano dress from the spring line.

The effect of Marion all dressed in dramatic black with that amazing Parisian backdrop is simply magical. Full credit goes to photographer Peter Lindbergh who’s captured a breathtakingly beautiful image of the actress and her leather bag. Who cares if he’s had a little help from Photoshop to get the composition just right?

This is the first of four ads Marion shot for Christian Dior, and it’s made me hungry for the rest. Thankfully we won’t have to wait too long. The series will start to grace the pages of our favorite fashion mags in January.

Dior Babe Bag in Python

dior
Lately, I have been obsessing over exotic leathers. They can really make a regular designer handbag look that much more amazing. The Dior “Babe Python” Frame Bag recently caught my eye. It’s simply a cute evening bad, that is dressed up in this gorgeous python skin. I can totally envision wearing a gold, silver, or black dress with this replica bag. This is definitely the type of bag that no matter what you wear, it pops out at you.

What I love most about this luxurious bag is that it comes with a detachable coin purse that matches the bag. I think that it so cute that not only do you get this stunning bag but you get a little cute accessory to go with your purchase. Face it, it’s the least they can do for the amount of money you pay for an exotic bag.

I currently do not own any snakeskin bag’s. I was once told at a Michael Kors store that snakeskin is very hard to maintain because it starts flaking after a while. Genuine snakeskin bags are always in the thousand’s range, and for them to flake after a while does sounds pretty awful after all the money you invest in them. They are gorgeous bags, but if a bag isn’t going to last as long as a regular leather bag is it really worth it? Is all the beauty and high maintenance of a bag make it really worth all those thousands you put into it? I definitely don’t think so.

The Dior “Babe Python” Frame Bag can be purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue for $6,550. This bag is beautiful, but it’s not worth the price. I want to be able to carry a fashion bag around whenever I want. If I have to be extra careful with a bag, and not carry it around much because of it being so high maintenance it’s not worth the high price to me then. Overall though, this bag is stunning.
